NEW: The College Board has released its plan for Spring 2020 AP Exams. You will find information for students located at this link (PDF) or (MS Word version). Information for staff members can be found in this link.

An email is being sent to all students registered for a Spring exam. This is nearly the same as the email sent from The College Board; MMSD wants to ensure that everyone has a chance to read it. This also contains a few MMSD specific pieces of information.

This FAQ document is intended to answer basic questions about AP changes. Email is the best way to connect if you have further questions: tpeterson2@madison.k12.wi.us

Forward Exam
Forward Exam Questions

Due to the school closures for COVID-19, DPI has determined that it will not be possible to give state assessments during the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year. The state has also received a federal waiver for federal testing requirements for this year.

This means that the Forward Exam, the ACT Aspire exam and the Dynamic Learning Maps (DLM) tests will not be given this year.

More information can be found on the DPI COVID-19 site. For questions regarding MMSD, please email Tim Peterson, Director of Assessment at tpeterson2@madison.k12.wi.us.

Climate Survey

Due to the indefinite school closures, this year's Climate Survey for students, staff and families will be postponed indefinitely. For questions regarding this, please email Tim Peterson, Director of Assessment at tpeterson2@madison.k12.wi.us.

PALS
PALS Questions

The PALS Reading Readiness screener, which was given in the Fall of 2019, will not be given again in the spring of this year. Should schools reopen this academic year, more information will be made available.

Civics Exam
Civics Test Questions

The High School Civics Exam has been placed on hold for the duration of the school closures. The district has applied for a waiver from this graduation requirement for those seniors who have not yet met this requirement, after the Board of Education approved the request on April 27, 2020.

Students in 9th – 11th grade will have opportunities to meet the Civics requirement when schools are again open.

ACT Aspire
ACT Aspire

Due to the school closures for COVID-19, DPI has determined that it will not be possible to give state assessments during the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year. The state has also received a federal waiver for federal testing requirements for this year.

This means that the Forward Exam, the ACT Aspire exam and the Dynamic Learning Maps (DLM) tests will not be given this year.

More information can be found on the DPI COVID-19 site. For questions regarding MMSD, please email Tim Peterson, Director of Assessment at tpeterson2@madison.k12.wi.us.

MAP Testing
NWEA MAP

Due to school closures for COVID-19, the district has determined that it would be in the best interest of students and teachers to cancel MAP testing for the Spring of 2020.

MAP testing will resume in the fall, when the data will help provide a fresh look at each student’s level of performance in the tested content areas.
