Assessments Update regarding AP testing: March 11, 2021

As MMSD has just announced that instruction will continue to be virtual, questions arise about several high school exams. Updates for several exams can be found at these links:

Assessments for All High School students:

You will find information regarding assessments that all High School students take, with some exceptions.

  • ACT + Writing exam, for Grade 11 students only.

  • ACT Aspire Exam for Grade 9 and 10 students. Aligned with and predicts potential ACT score.

  • Wisconsin Forward Exam, for Grade 10 students. Social Studies only.

  • Wisconsin Civics Exam. A graduation requirement. (NOTE: requirement waived in 2020-21)

  • MMSD Climate Survey. For all students to share their voices!

Assessments for Some High School students:

You will find information regarding assessments that are for students in specific programs (DLI) or specific needs (ELL, etc.).

  • ACCESS for ELLs. English Language proficiency.

  • Alternate ACCESS for ELLs. English Language proficiency for students with individual learning plans.

  • Advanced Placement (AP) exams. Used for potential college credit.

  • AAPPL language proficiency test. For advanced World Language students and those working to achieve the Seal of Biliteracy.

  • In 2020-21, DCYA. Youth risk survey. Grades 9 through 12.

  • DLM (Dynamic Learning Maps). Alternate state assessment for some students with IEPs.

  • WIDA Screener for potential EL students.
